Important Notice- Realty Conveyance Tax Update
Per RIGL, the Rhode Island conveyance tax is increasing, effective October 1, 2025. The Rhode Island Division of Taxation encourages closing attorneys to record deeds for real estate transactions that closed on or before September 30, 2025 by September 30, 2025. Any transactions occurring on or after October 1, 2025, will be subject to the increased tax rate enacted in Rhode Island’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget. For more information, please see Advisory 2025-13 and Notice 2025-05.
The Town Clerk’s Office is responsible for the recording, indexing, and maintenance of land evidence records and recordings.
Our records go back to the Town of Richmond’s incorporation in 1747. Documents recorded July 1, 1985 and forward are electronically indexed. Documents recorded July 1, 2005 and forward are digitally scanned.
Land evidence records and recordings are available to view online through SearchIQS.
