VIN Checks

If your vehicle's title is from another state or the vehicle was registered in another state, and the model year of vehicle is 2001 or newer, a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) check is required in order to register your vehicle in the State of Rhode Island.

VIN Check Hours

Tuesday and Thursday

9:00 am – 11:00 am

Saturdays (Richmond residents only)

9:00 am – 10:00 am

You must bring the vehicle and title to the police station.

Fee: $10 for residents, $20 for non-residents (cash or check only)

Please note: VIN checks are weather permitting and based on staff availability
