Tax Collections

The Tax Collector’s Office is responsible for the collecting and processing of real estate taxes, personal property taxes, and water bills. The Tax Collector is also responsible for issuing municipal lien certificates and conducting tax sales of delinquent real estate.

Tax Relief for Federal Workers

Federal workers living in the Town of Richmond who apply are eligible to delay payment of their 2nd quarter 2025 real estate tax interest for up to sixty (60) days. Please contact the Tax Collector's Office with any questions.

Tax Bills

Tax bills are mailed in the month of July. If you do not receive a bill, it is your responsibility to investigate whether you have a liability to the town.

Note: Failure to receive a tax bill does not negate the requirement to pay the tax. All late payments accrue interest.

If you are disputing the assessment of your tax, you are required to pay the original amount billed until you receive notification otherwise.

Tax Due Dates

1st Quarter - September 7th
2nd Quarter - December 7th
3rd Quarter - March 7th
4th Quarter - June 7th

Checks that are returned to the town for any reason will be assessed a $25 fee. This fee is required to offset charges assessed to the town by our financial institution.

Enroll in Autopay

You can have your quarterly real estate debited directly from your checking or savings account. This service is free of charge on all accounts that are paid current. To enroll in this program, please complete an ACH Authorization Form and return it to the Collector's office.

Fire Tax

Fire taxes must be paid directly to the fire district that services your address. Fire tax payments are not collected through the Town of Richmond's Tax Collections Office at the Town Hall. To determine which fire district services your address, view the fire section of the website.
